Working in a tower with only my rabbits to keep me company, I create magical equipment and items. My rabbits explore realities throughout time and space to gather materials and let me see the numerous worlds — I hope to use my technology and rabbits to befriend many people.
Sparks flew off of the equipment — my eyes concentrating on the latest iterations of my pets. I take a few minutes to finish on last-minute adjustments before I lean back and remove the face shield. As I place it on the workbench, I use my other floating hand to comb my fingers through my long hair — relaxing after completing a project.
In front of me is the latest prototype — a rabbit.
The furry creature stirs up memories in my mind that quickly retreat into the mental fog, preventing me from remembering what happened before this room and the tower -- where I find myself living inside.
A twitching brings me back to the present — the rabbit begins to awaken.
Nearby, the other rabbits realize what's happening and make their way toward the workbench to meet their new companion and member of the family. A few light thuds were made from those that preferred relaxing next to my other projects.
I can't help but smile as I see my pets — my only companions in the old stone tower — making short cute hops.
Reaching down, my floating hands pick up the nearest rabbit. I hold it close to my chest while allowing it to still see the new member awakening.
Slowly, the rabbit lying on the workbench rights itself. The ears moved about, processing the information of the world it now found itself inside, even if it was only in the tower for the moment.
A brief flash of light made me look to see one of my pets entering the tower from where it was exploring.
In its mouth was a robotic arm — slightly rusted due to oxidation.
My pet makes its way to the ramp that leads to a box filled with items. The container holding the various parts and materials they found -- during their travels.
With them traveling through the miasma that lies at this world’s edge, they can visit new realities. Whenever they find something interesting, they bring it back to the tower. I'm thankful for them and their desire to help me in my pursuit of building new items to pass the time.
I enjoy the scenes they share and the people they encounter. The various materials they bring are also helpful in furthering my research — creating new equipment, items and pets; and, potentially, a way for me to interact with others in the realities they visit.
Looking back at my latest prototype, I think of how fortunate I am to have each of them—memories of when I made the first generation come to mind. The newest, though, is far more realistic and better matches what comes to mind when I think about rabbits.
Even though I may not remember what a rabbit is and why I enjoy making them so much, something in my head tells me that my creations are accurate and fit.
Checking to ensure there were no issues, I put down the rabbit in my hand and placed it next to its new friend.
A brief flash of joy is felt when I see them curiously exploring one another with their tiny pink noses.
A cool gentle breeze passes by and brushes past my cascading hair, making me look toward one of the many windows.
Walking to the nearest window, I glance at the shelves with half-finished projects.
